iPhone 8 Plus stuck on recovery mode

So I have the iPhone 8 Plus and today I had a black screen pop up telling me to restore my phone. I plugged it into my laptop to update and restore the phone and it didn't work. I left my phone plugged in and let it sit there for a couple hours and now I can't get it to turn on at all. I have had it plugged in sitting there for a couple hours and I even tried to hold down the volume and lock screen button and nothing is working. Do you know if it would be completely dead, something broken in it, etc? Or do you know of any quick fixes?
