remove disk from time machine, that is not in time machine

How to remove a time machine backup disk that is not showing in time machine. Trying to install Catalina and I need to select a disk where to install it, but I get the message this disk is being used for time machine. (but it is not)

From Interent Recovery, or a bootable USBinstaller, or from booting to a TM back up—

you want to use the Disk Utility.

from the dropdown menu: Utilities>  Disk Utility> run the First Aid on your Macintosh HD (and the "Macintosh HD-Data" volume as well if Catalina) If errors are found and repaired, run again until no errors reported.

Quit the Disk Utility, and try again your install.
