Have you checked which apps are using background use? Sometimes a newly installed app will consume battery.

In the latest iOS you can find out which apps are using battery by going

Settings -> Battery

It will process and get some statistics to advise which are using the battery. For me a game uses 32% of my battery typically. You can also select the "Screen Off" value and find out which apps use when the screen is off.

I would suggest closing the app in the backgorund to see if it helps get batttery life back,

Also your background app usage settings can be found in

Settings -> General -> Background App Refresh

I typically shut down any apps I don't want running when I'm not using them, I only leave apps like Skype, Paypal, Ebay or such open that I want to have refreshed without me going in. Other things like CNN or news, I typically shut those down.

Hope that helps

I had this problem for weeks where the battery would continuously drain even when I was not using it and the phone would get hot. I was ready to switch to Android. However, I eventually found a solution.

In my case, I found that the Contacts app by Apple seemed to be the problem. I noticed one day it was slow, so I deleted it and redownloaded it from the App Store and rebooted my phone. Suddenly, my battery life was back to its usual excellent state.

Apple needs to investigate this as the severe battery drain is a major source of complaints from users. What made this problem so difficult is that it did not go away even when I did a full factory reset and restore from iCloud. I am a knowledgeable user and could still not track down the problem. Note that my contacts are managed by Google and synced with Apple, but that is no excuse for Apple. The battery monitor would often show Siri as the cause of battery usage, even when I had Siri turned off, and did not show Contacts. There is some type of severe bug in Contacts and it probably is not subject to the same battery constraints as 3rd party apps.

Same problem (iPhone 11 Pro Max) - I’ve been researching this for some time. I now believe it is some sort of synchronization thrashing problem. This worked for me:

Log out of your Apple account.

Log back in.

I chose to “remove” data like contacts, etc. which is an option when logging out of your Apple account.

Another poster elected to keep local data and then did a “merge” when he logged back in Which worked for him.

I also reset my network settings but I’m not sure this was necessary.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 11 Pro Max ever since the last update (I’ve also seen many similar postings). Setting>Battery shows me that Siri is using 78% of the battery which continues to be the case even after turning Siri and Keyboard Dictation completely off. So...

  • Battery health is good.
  • Siri & Dictation are OFF.
  • All Applications are stopped.
  • Screen is OFF and iPhone is face down (keeping screen from coming on).
  • No apps are indicating that they are using GPS.
  • Cellular radio is NOT searching for a signal.
  • WiFi radio is NOT searching for a signal.

What “QuickTimeKirk” is not realizing is that what we are “worrying about” is a specific change in iPhone behavior that results in batteries completely draining in about 7 hours.

I’m currently trying another cycle with Application Background Update turned off. We’ll see.

**I did see a posting by someone who said they fixed this problem by logging out of iCloud and then logging back in (merging data). I’m not sure why this might fix this issue unless it has something to do with some sort of synchronization “thrashing” going on with iCloud. I’ll try that next.**

By the way - in my opinion you can ignore the responses to this issue by the “level 10 experts” on this forum. Every one that I have seen so far simply repeats the same old “how to improve battery life” steps already published by Apple. That is not your problem as you described it.

Hello. Battery drain issues are widely reported after iPhone and iPad users (including myself) install the latest iOS update from Apple. Your experience is not unique and likely has nothing to do with your battery health or the background refresh settings. With all background refresh turned off, my iPad still drains to 7% in approx 60 to 70 minutes even when not being used at all. The iPad also runs very, very warm, even hot to touch. This batter drain is being widely reported. It will likely only be solved when Apple sends out a software update. One online news report stated: "Apple seems to have fixed the issue in iOS 13.6, which beta users report is much-improved on the current version."

Do you understand that we complain about Screen Time on one charge? Not about battery health drainings.  I have same problem with my phone on iOS 13.3.1 100% Battery health, nothing drains battery in background but i think my battery don't last as everyone talk. - ip 11 pro max. Previously I had iOS 13.2.3 with the same problem. It isnt normal that I lost 1% of battery each 4-5min of using.

I have the iPhone 7 (WiFi only), iPhone 8 (my phone with cellular services), and iPad Pro 11” (WiFi only).

All devices have battery health 100%. I do the battery save techniques and turn off background app refresh, dim down the back light, limited notifications, location services are limited, etc. I’ve been doing that since 2014 when I got my first iPhone and applied it to all my apple devices. Yet when I updated all my devices to the OS version 13.4, the battery life is draining exceptionally quickly. Normally on my phones, they don’t usually go below 55%-60% when I charge them when I go to bed. Now its >=45%. I was taken back by this. I don’t usually notice a significant battery drainage for update releases like some do, but I’ve noticed this one by leaps and bounds.
