macbook hdmi only 1080p

Hi,

With everyone self isolating and working from home, I was trying to connect my 2014 MacBook pro to my 4K Sony Bravia TV. I get a picture ok, but only 1080p not 4K.

I know it's not the cable or TV port because when I connect a Raspberry Pi4 to the same cable and TV Port I get a 4K picture.

I have tried all the Mac display ports but all of them only display a 1080p picture.

Any advice grateful received

Try extended desktop mode and set the external display to the tv's native resolution. If you are using mirror mode then the computer's display resolution is also mirrored.
