Hi aprianson,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! I see you're having an issue saving a screen recording on your iPhone, and I'd like to do what I can to help out.

I have not seen that error before. However, it may have something to do with the app or webpage you're recording, as it might be copyrighted.

Try recording an Apple screen, such as Settings and see if you get the same message, or if it's successful.

You can also verify that you have enough available space at Settings > General > iPhone Storage.

Also, have you restarted your iPhone since noticing this issue? If not, go ahead and do that, as a restart can resolve unusual issues.

Restart your iPhone

Fail -5823 result occurs using iPad (250GB free memory available) to record FaceTime session with iPhone; both on private Wi-Fi NW. No warning of memory shortage, or any other messagings occur. iPad recording abruptly halts with error -5823. The file is not saved. Further problem determination impossible. What conditions have occurred; how can the failure state be diagnosed? How can approximate total recording duration (i.e., file size capacity for audio & video) be determined; what is a reasonable rule of thumb estimate for the expected file size that will result from 15 minutes of screen record time?

Thank you for helping to further diagnose the limitations of screen recording correlated with available storage on a iPad or iPhone device.
