why am I receiving messages on all devices except one device?

I have an iPad Pro, iPhoneXR, iMac, and MacBook Pro. I can send and receive text messages via Messenger, but when I send a message to someone with SMS, only three out of the four work. I've look around to troubleshoot and nothing so far has worked. Why is that?

MacBook Pro 15", macOS 10.15

Hi Gorman Lee,

I understand you're trying to get all your devices receiving messages. I love the convenience of Continuity features too, and I want to help.

Which device isn't receiving your messages?

Make sure whichever device is missing the messages is enabled on your iPhone to receive text messages in Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding:

How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac - Apple Support
