Not able to activate, install, use my iPad mini 2

I reset all settings on my ipad mini 2, to give it to my wife. since then I am not able to activate it. this is the message i receive when trying to install: "Your ipad could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached....." but this is a wrong message. I’ve tried installing it connecting it to my Pc (win 10) over iTunes without success. Anyone had experienced similar problem?

Whilst not perhaps an immediately obvious consideration, sometimes your home network can block access to some internet resources/servers. When the “block” happens to affect access to Apple’s Activation server, this can be the result.

The perhaps easiest first potential fix is to restart your Home Router, then force-restart your iPad.

To restart your Router, disconnect power and wait for 30 seconds before restarting. When you router has fully rebooted (which may take several minutes), force-restart the iPad:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On an iPad with Face ID: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

If this doesn’t resolve the problem, we can look at different ways forward.

I suggest that you manually override your automatically set DNS Settings - at least as a diagnostic tool.

Settings > WiFi > [Your WiFi Name] - touch the “i” icon, then Configure DNS > Manual

Delete all the DNS Servers from the list then add these entries (these correspond with the Quad9 DNS Servers):

9.9.9.9

149.112.112.112

2620:fe::fe

2620:fe::9

Note: The entries with double-colons are not errors. If any individual server addresses are not accepted, they may be ignored.

When the DNS Server entries have been updated, tap Done, then close Settings.
