cannot verify account with older ios

This sounds like it is related to Two-Factor Authentication. You will need to generate a secure code from another device and type it after your password. Example: password123456

Two-Factor Authentication

I just went through this with an iPod Touch running 6.1.6.. It's actually much easier than I thought and I didn't have to turn off Two-Factor identification.

1. Log into your iPod with your Apple ID and password as normal.
2. Get the six-digit authentication code from one of your trusted devices associated with the Apple ID.
3. Back on the iPod, it will ask you to log in again, but this time add the six-digit code at the end of the password. (Don’t put a space or anything else between the password or after the code.)

Please can you assist me. I am having the same problem with my ancient Ipad 2. I just want to load an ereader. Tried the verification code and it won't work. I cannot log in at all so cannot access the app store.
