2020 iPad Pro with external Monitor

I want to use my IPad Pro with a monitor for remote working. Apple only recommend an LG 4K on their website. What I want to know is for general day to day office use (such as Microsoft Office and PDF document review), is it better for me to use a 4K monitor with USB-c or will I be ok with the USB-C to HDMI adaptor to use for a cheaper and lesser quality monitor?

I understand I can only mirror the screen.

Do we know if it will be in future iOS?

We do not. Apple has made no mention of it. However it would require a complete redesign of the iPad's desktop to make sense.

Since the desktop holds all your apps, extending the desktop would reorganize all apps to fill the new space, which may cause issues when the iPad is disconnected from the display.

Also, apps in iPad OS are full screen, and cannot be dragged anywhere, so no way to move app windows to the new desktop

space, or have them open in the new desktop space.

With so many changes, its starts to be more practical to just use a Mac that can use extended desktop mode.

At what point does the iPad stop being an iPad and start being a full fledged Mac? Why not use a Mac from the beginning if you need all these features.
