Wireless mouse pauses every 10 seconds

Hello community, so I've had this problem for the past month now with my Logitech MX Master 2S, bluetooth mouse. I'm running macOS Catalina 10.15.4 (but this also happened before the update) on a 2017, 15-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.

The problem is that when using the mouse for browsing the web, files in Finder or working in Adobe Illustrator for example, the pointer pauses for a fraction of a second every 10 seconds exactly.

I've been on to Apple Support and the advisor said for me to reset the SMC and the NVRAM to which I have done both. I've also uninstalled the mouse and re-installed it (software and bluetooth connection).

After both the SMC and NVRAM were reset the problem seemed to have gone away but after a certain amount of time it came back. It's not looking like it's caused by any particular App that is running as it can happen if all Apps are closed so I'm not sure what else it could be that is causing it. I've also had the mouse run on another system without any problems so it's not likely to be the mouse itself.

Has anyone experienced similar problems, has anyone found any fixes that work? Please let me know your thoughts as the next step I've been told is to re-install the OS.

Thanks again in advance, if there is any more info you need please let me know :)

Why do I have difficulty with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth devices when USB 3 devices are attached to my computer?

Some USB 3 devices can generate radio frequency interference that can cause Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices operating in the 2.4GHz band to have issues communicating with your computer. Here are some tips to avoid this issue:

• If your USB device has a cable long enough that you can move the device, place it away from your Mac—and make sure not to place it behind your Mac, or near the hinge of its display. The antennas for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are located there, and USB 3 devices placed there might interfere with your wireless connections.

• If you're using adapters or dongles on a Mac computer with Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports, plug them into the front port on the left side of your Mac, or into the ports on the right side (if your computer has them). These ports are the farthest away from the antennas, making interference less likely.

• To avoid interference on the 2.4GHz band using Wi-Fi, try using the 5GHz band instead. You can change this on your wireless base station. Bluetooth always uses 2.4GHz, so this alternative isn't available for Bluetooth.

in addition, a very crowded Wi-Fi environment, such as in a large apartment building, can cause similar issues for slightly different reasons.

This problem can be caused by a crowded network neighborhood or Wi-Fi Interference or a runaway Application. Blaming it on MacOS version without more proof is nothing more than a correlation, NOT a cause-and-effect.

None of the likely contenders I listed are caused by MacOS version, so don't hold your breath waiting for Apple to send you a fix.

Hi Grant, unfortunately this is something that has came about in the past month or so and I've had the mouse for over 2 years without it having any problems.

I've tested your advice and removed all USB devices which all went through a powered USB hub which I've had for more than a year, and the problem still persists.

Annoyingly I think a re-install of the OS is probably going to have to happen as it hasn't helped doing the NVRAM or PRAM resets nor has unplugging/switching off all USB devices. Also there is no crowded Wi-Fi networks that I'm using or near by.

But thanks again for your reply! :)
