Quicktime mirroring from iphone camera app to macbook air lanscape mode not working

I am trying to record a video on my iphone XS back camera and would like to use my macbook pro as a monitor to see what I am doing. When I try to screen mirror my camera app on my iphone XS onto my mac, it stays in portrait mode even when I rotate my phone to try to switch the screen mirroring to landscape. How do I screen mirror my camera app in landscape mode to fill my entire mac screen to be used as a monitor?
