Monitor for Mac mini 2020

firstly i hope anybody who reads this is safe and sound in this current climate we face!

ok so i just received my mac mini 2020 and have hooked it up to a dell P2219H and unfortunately the screen quality is terrible ( the sharpness of the lettering and the colour). I also have a iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013) and i find the screen quality to be leaps and bounds ahead of the dell monitor connected to the new Mac mini.

Please could somebody recommend monitor options similar if not better then the display on my iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013).

FWIW, I have an 2018 Mac mini, which is basically identical to the new 2020 model. I have it connected to a Dell U2718Q 4K monitor and the display quality is excellent. Like your monitor, mine supports both HDMI and Mini DisplayPort inputs. I have them interconnected via a HDMI 2.0 cable.

However, my Dell supports video at much higher resolutions than yours which only supports 1920 x 1080. Also note that your monitor's ports are:

A single DisplayPort v1.2 (this standard can support up to 5120 x 2880 @ 30 fps, but is limited by Dell)
A single HDMI port v1.4 (this standard can support up to 3840 x 2160 @ 30 Hz, and again is limited by Dell)
A single VGA port

The bottom line? Your new Mac is much more capable than your monitor. Depending on your needs and budget, I would suggest looking into 4K monitors. Either something like my Dell or other brands, like those from LG.

What part of “The specs haven’t changed since 2018. There is no Mac mini 2020” am I not reading. Perhaps Apple has a typographical error they are unaware of.

Browse through the description from the Apple website that you posted. Do you see Mac mini 2020 anywhere? I don’t. New, sure. The base configuration is new. No argument about that.

I‘m not going to argue. The specs changed last month. We probably won’t see any til after the coronavirus Issue is solved or dies down. When that happens then the issue can be solved.

Nope, the specs didn’t change, just the base hard disk capacity. Which means NO change in name.

Trust me, not worth arguing. Blaming Corona, hmm that’s a new one, let me think about it.

Upon further checking the model is referred to as Late 2018 so I am wrong as far as name change goes. Too much assumption on my part.
