iPhone

For reasons unbeknown to me my iPhone 6 that was in my inside pocket started talking to me (a male voice, Siri on my phone is female) so I took it out to see what was up. Whatever button I pressed this male voice would tell me what I was doing. Example, Enter Passcode (mine is six digits) this voice would repeat each key press, however each digit of my pass code needs to be pressed 20 - 40 times before I can move to the next digit. When I eventually get passed the pass code I am faced with a similar problem moving between applications. I could go on, if there is an answer other than trying to press the on/off along with the home button I would give it a try. Many thanks, Brian.

iPhone 6, iOS 12

Sounds like you activated VoiceOver. Triple click the home button, if a menu appears tap once on VoiceOver to select it, then double tap to turn it off.
