Not seeing internal mic option in screen record

I'm trying to capture some videos for a work project using the screen record function on my new laptop. It needs to include the audio from the videos I'm capturing. I used to do this kind of thing in QuickTime but now using QT just defaults to the screen record function.

I found some guides online that indicate there should be an internal option while doing this:

But on my laptop these are the only options I'm seeing:

I checked my security and privacy to ensure I was allowing it to access everything, so I'm not sure what else to do. Any tips would be super helpful!

Hello maceditor21,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! From your message it sounds like you're no longer able to capture the audio when screen recording.

From your screenshot it looks like you have the option for your MacBook Pro Microphone selected, which is correct. I just tested this on my iMac which is running macOS Catalina, and was able to capture the audio of a video with screen recording when the iMac Microphone was selected. You may find you need to turn up the volume to capture the audio at the desired level. The steps I followed are under, "Use QuickTime Player," from this article: How to record the screen on your Mac

If you use an external microphone, it will work as well.

All the best!
