I have an iPhone 8 . When I go on caller ID I can’t turn on or off as it shows the spinning wheel .

I had this problem too and I tried everything and nothing worked. I “chatted” online to an Apple person who very obligingly worked with me to troubleshoot a solution. We again tried everything: resets, airplane mode etc etc. then, he suggested I try another sim in the phone to see if it would work. I used my partner’s sim and it worked. The wheel stopped spinning and the toggle switch for turning in my Caller ID worked. Replacing the original SIM card showed the spinning wheel. The online Apple person concluded that the problem was the sim - or putting it another way- it was something my carrier needed to fix. So I immediately went to the carrier’s retail store at the local shopping centre. The customer assistant said it was just a matter of going into their app (which I had on my phone) and changing it there. Bingo! I now have my Caller ID toggle switch back in Settings on my phone and it is working perfectly.
I had the same problem with IPhone 7 caller ID wheel was spinning and I was unable to turn it back on.
Then I switched Bluetooth off and mobile data…on my phone and it stopped spinning and I was able to switch caller ID back on. I hope this helps someone it was driving me insane 🙃

All you have to do it switch your phone onto flight mode for a few seconds then back again.
Now that spinning wheel will stop and you can switch it across.

work so hid my number and got the spinning circle when I tried to toggle it back on. As soon as I turned off WiFi I could change it straight away.
Turn off wi fi and your mobile data, then go to you settings to show user ID and the bar should come up.
I just contacted my mobile provider. They have given me a code to activate it, another to deactivate it and a code for a one off activation. Thanks to whoever made that suggestion.

I had this today and spinning wheel went on and on. turn off wi fi, wait then toggle caller ID switch then turn wifi back on. finally worked

Switch your WiFi off on your phone or switch to aeroplane mode temporarily. I was having this issue for a long time until I tried this and it worked!
I figured out how to get this to work on my iPhone 8. I pressed the spinning wheel and held it until the toggle appeared and then moved the toggle.
Ok, can’t believe I found a fix. I have an iPhone 13 mini. I had wifi and Bluetooth off. I went into mobile then scrolled down to phone and turned mobile off for phone. Went back to phone in main menu, went show caller I’d and the spinning wheel was gone. Toggled back to show ID. I’m not game to try and repeat it though haha.
Thank you. I switched off WiFi and it worked. Again, "WiFi" as opposed to WiFi Calling.
