Airpods 2 Pro dont work on Call with Iphone 11?

The airpods connect perfectly and work with music and I can hear the phone ring however as soon as the phone call connects the sound drops out. They can't hear me either.. I end up switching the audio back to the handset.

No airpod audio on incoming or outgoing calls unless... I have reset and re-paired my 1st gen airpods on my iPhone X. When I take the airpods out of the case they sync with the phone and I hear the paired sound effect. Then, if I make a phone call or receive a phone call, they're dead silent and the mic doesn't work. The phone shows connected to the airpods at this time. To fix it, I have to briefly enable speakerphone and then switch back to airpods in the audio selection menu, and it works fine for that call. The problem starts all over again on the next call. I have everything up-to-date, charged, reset and I seems like there is no fix for me.

My iPhone audio during calls only works if my AirPods are used I can't use the Speaker or regular audio when the phone rings. I can ONLY answer phone calls with my Airpods plugged in. I won't even let me choose which audio I prefer during phone calls. Even if I don't have my Airpods near me, it only let me make calls or receive calls using the Airpods

AirPods not taking calls My AirPods 1st gen firmware 6.8.8 work perfectly except when taking phone calls: I can hear the caller but the caller can’t hear me. Doesn’t matter if I’m on WiFi or cellular. I also know for a fact that it’s not on the receiving end: As soon as I take out the AirPods or switch the audio input to “speaker” or “iPhone”, the caller can hear me perfectly. However, every other time or so the AirPods do work as intended and the caller and I can both hear each other. There are no issues when speaking to Siri or using dictation, recording voice memos, etc., so I know the microphones aren’t physically damaged. Is this a known bug or did I get a “bad Apple”? *Yes, the iPhone is unlocked when taking calls. iPhone is a 2nd gen SE on iOS 13.5
