WiFi Assist unable to turn off

my iPhone 11 Pro is on iOS 13.4, today I noticed my WiFi Assist unable to turn off, whenever I turn it off, navigate back to that page, it will enable back

I am having 2 eSim profile attached to my iPhone 11 Pro

Few solutions I have tries,

  1. Reset Network Settings, does not help
  2. Reset All Content and Settings, kept the eSim profile, start my phone as fresh without restoring from any backup, does not help too

is anyone having this issue? is it something bugged in eSim, previously I am able to turn it off, I just aware it is enable today and trying to turn if off.

Switching between two of my eSim, trying to turn off end up the same issue, navigate back to that page, the WiFi Assist is back ON.

Thanks.

totally out of idea, i have updated to iOS 13.4.1 and decided to try few more methods.

completely Reset All Content and Settings, and also Remove eSIM profile, started my phone as fresh

the following combination seems OKAY, all mobile data / cellular data on each SIM profile can turn off WiFi Assist

  1. one eSIM , one physical SIM
  2. two/three eSIM , one physical SIM
  3. only one physical SIM

this concluded that without physical SIM, regardless how many eSIM attached to my phone, the WiFi Assist WILL NOT able to turn off (as first post here)

could this be iOS bug, if the iPhone without physical SIM at all, other eSIM profile mobile / cellular data is unable to turn off (it will goes back to on after navigate back to that page)

I have the exact same issue. It took me a while to eventually figure out that it is an eSIM problem.

In a nutshell, I switched from AT&T (physical SIM) to Google Fi (eSIM). After that I realized I couldn't turn WiFi Assist off. I thought it was Google Fi doing it since they have this Google VPN feature (which I later found out that it wasn't compatible for the iPhone and it is a non-existent feature for now).

I found out that it is an eSIM problem when I spoke to a Google Fi support person and he himself was using an iPhone, same model as me (iPhone 11 Pro Max), and on Google Fi. However, he was using a physical SIM and not an eSIM, and he checked his settings and his WiFi Assist was off!
