Yesterday I backed up my wife’s iPad
to a Windows PC using iTunes. After the backup, all the PDF files stored in
iBooks have disappeared. Is there any way to get these back? Will they have
been included in the backup? I can always try restoring that to a different
iPad.

I have the same problem that I noticed days ago on my iPad. I didn’t connect the iPad with any other devices. I hope to restore my books back?

Good luck. I have given up. I tried four different recovery programs to try and restore thye PDFs from iTunes or iCloud. None succeeded and iTunes now says the backup it has is corrupt.
