What’s the best way to sanitize the iPhone? The “contact free” movement got me thinking about the reports in the past how dirty hotel remote controls were. Items we touch all the time all day are cell phones (which they are near our face and mouth), keys and debit/credit cards. We need to clean them and then wash our hands. I think the pin pad at the store is the new remote control.

macjack’s link is the official response, and is a safe procedure both for you and for the phone. But keep in mind that unless you routinely let other people use your phone your germs are the only ones on it, and, as your body is covered with them, the risk of catching anything from your phone is vanishingly small. The PIN pad is another story, of course, which is why you should wash your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer (if you can find any). I wear gloves using the PIN pad. And Apple Pay is a great way of avoiding contact with devices of unknown cleanliness.
