How to stop Macbook's syncing desktop files

I have 2 macbooks...one for work and one for personal use. I use the same apple ID for both. Somehow...probably my fault, everything on my work computer's desktop is on my personal coomputer's desktop. How can I stop my work computer from syncing?

Un-syncing macbooks I had a macbook air and recently got a macbook pro. I want to use the air for work and the pro for personal stuff. They seem to be synced together in the sense all of my files, data, etc. are on both, no matter which computer I saved it to. How can I undo this? I do not want the macbook air to have any personal documents on it since it is being used for work. Thanks in advance

I don't want my two computers to sync - MacBook Pro I have an old laptop and my NEW laptop keeps syncing up with the old one and it is crashing. I don't want them to sync. Anyone know how to stop it. I logged on and one site said go to START? I can't even find a START.

Go to System Preferences/iCloud/iCloud Drive/Options (Apple ID/iCloud Drive/Options for Catalina) and turn off Documents and Desktop syncing. Check both computers.
