Does anyone have any experience with this? The top of the screen just started lifting off.

The last person I talked to who sent their phone in in the US said 2 - 5 weeks (it was today) was all they would say. In the email they received it included a statement that it could easily be longer due to the pandemic. You can inquire about getting a loaner if they are available.
The same thing is happening to me the battery did get hot some time ago could this issue be the same even after I got the screen replaced the phone now has a mind of its own I am smashing it and hitting it and getting very angry and it is calling people without my knowledge it makes me look very bad and I still have one year left on my contract to replace the screen it is 350 Canadian and who knows how much time anyone have any ideas on possibly to get some money for it

The battery has failed catastrophically and is swelling.
The device is not safe to use. Get it serviced.
How or where at this point can the battery be replaced? With the stores closed how is this possible?
There are other authorized Apple repair locations (BestBuy, as an example)
Apple is also still providing mail in service.
Best Buy is no longer accepting devices for service and in many areas all of the AASPs are closed.
