watchOS 6.2 draining battery fast

I have an Apple Watch Series 4. It has always had good battery life. I usually go to bed at the end of a full day with greater than 30% battery left, sometimes greater than 50%. I updated to watchOS 6.2, and next day my battery was dead by the middle of the day. I tried turning off and on, but it didn't help. I tried erasing the Watch and reinstalling the OS. Seemed back to normal the next day. But every day since then, the battery life has gotten worse and worse. It can no longer make it through the day.

I spent an hour on the phone with Apple support earlier today. They ran diagnostics on my watch and couldn't find any problem. They had me again unpair and repair the watch, and then made a few minor changes to the settings. Not sure if that's going to fix it, but I was told that if the problem continues, they would escalate the case. So, with that being said, I'd suggest contacting Apple support. If there are lots of people with the problem, they'll need to know. Good luck!

We I received my replacement series 4 with cell service (which I do not have active, I use it with wifi-calling) watch last night and this time I took the option to install it like a new watch and not from backup. I fully charged it up along with accepting to bring it up to 6.2.6. I only installed the apps that I needed ie: Dexcom, Fantastical, Carrot and HomeKit app etc, to control my locks. I had put it on the charger last night so it would have a full charge to test with today. Right now (1731-- 531pm for those who do not know military time) it is at 86% since I put it on at 0700 this morning, thats 10 1/2 hours which is a far cry from the one I sent back which would not even last 6-8 hrs. Glad that I had Apple Care! Now I will have to wait to see how it does overnight and into tomorrow. FYI I am at 13.5.1 on my iPhone 11 Max Pro.

I was finally able to charge my phone that was stuck in low power mode. I let the battery fully discharge then put it back on the charger. It finally charged...and quickly. It took almost a week off the charger to finally die completely. Still having battery issues though.

Here’s a twist. I put my watch in airplane mode. The little phone icon in the upper left corner of the swipe up screen turned red....for about 5 seconds then went back to green. WiFi is off on watch. Even though it’s in airplane mode, with either the red or green phone icon, when I look at Bluetooth on my phone it’s always connected. And...I received a message alert on my watch even though in airplane mode. Going to leave it set to airplane mode and see how the day goes. FYI…In just aver an hour I went from 100% to 83%. Apparently the only way to disconnect watch from phone in be truly in airplane mode is to turn off Bluetooth on my phone. NOT ACCEPTABLE, As soon as it is turned back on, watch (in airplane mode) reconnects to phone. Something’s funky with the iwatch to iPhone connection logic. I’m going to leave phone Bluetooth off on my phone for a bit and see what happens…though neither my headset nor my car will be able to connect to my iphone without Bluetooth. Again…NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!

I will try unpair/repair this evening.

Hypothesis: Is the watch battery killing itself trying to stay connected to bluetooth on my phone? iWatch Series 2, WatchIOS 6.2.5 iPhone XR 13.4.1

I have an Apple Watch Series 5, OS 6.2.6(17T620), it didn't seem to have any issues with the battery, but it recently updated and now I can't go a day without it alerting me that the battery is low - typically 5 AM to 4 or 5 PM so 12 hours! When I bought it earlier in 2020 it would still be roughly 40% when I'd put it back on the charger at 9 or 10 PM.

I’ve have series 4 and also noticed that it is intermittent. Some days it lasts all day, sometimes charging twice a day.

I also notice my exercise ring is closing with very little effort, I.e. when I’m not exercising. It also does not sync my exercise rings to my phone.

i tried re-pairing and had some success, but yesterday was a twice charge day. It’s like the watch is constantly trying to make contact with the phone and using up the battery constantly trying to find it.
