MacBook Air 2020 Keyboard Cover

Is a 0.14mm TPU/silicon keyboard cover bad for a MacBook Air 2020? I have heard some say that some keyboard modifications can hurt the display, leaving permanent marks. The keyboard cover I have is clear. I have also heard that it could possibly disrupt cooling, is this true?

I found an article that answers my own question, the most relevant advice that I have been able to find that is directly from Apple. It doesn't mention anything about screen damage, but does advise against placing anything over the keyboard so the machine can operate within acceptable temperatures. I thought I'd provide a link to this article, so if anyone else comes across this post curious about it themselves...

Hi. I have a 2013 11" MacBook Air that I used a keyboard cover on, without issue, for years. The computer is still in use as my secondary laptop and works perfectly. (It no longer needs the keyboard cover as it is now closed all the time in use with external display, keyboard, and mouse). It has never needed repair or troubleshooting for any hardware issues. I am now also an owner of the 2020 MacBook Air and will definitely get a keyboard cover for it. The pros of avoiding greasy shiny keys and having a light buffer between the internal components and any particles/liquids far outweigh the purported cons of operating temperature. Air can still escape through the hinge mechanism, if I'm not mistaken, and the keyboard cover is not suctioned to the laptop so there IS still a way for air to escape, especially since periodically you can take it off for a time and put it back on later. The problem now is trying to find a company that has started making them for the new 2020! I've contacted Uppercase who said that due to COVID-19, new production is delayed; and Moshi (who made my 11" keyboard cover) also does not have one in their lineup for the 2020 MB Air so my guess is their situation is similar.

Good Luck!
