Apple TV+ No Video (Audio Only)

I'm running MacOs Catalina latest version on my MacBook Pro 13" . I bought Smithsonian channel subscription via Apple TV app last week. But when I'm trying to watch a show, screen goes black and no video playing. But Audio and Subtitles are playing without any issue.

I have tried to play Trailers from movies and from Apple originals but same issue persists. That means I my Apple TV app doesn't play any video on my screen, just black screen with Audio.

I tried authorising my PC , restarting PC etc. But no luck.

Hello hdineth,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that when playing any content through the Apple TV app on your MacBook Pro, audio and subtitles work but video is not playing. You've come to the right place for help.

If you currently have any peripheral devices connected to the Mac (aside from a keyboard or mouse), I'd like to start by having you disconnect those. This includes any Bluetooth devices the Mac may be paired with such as headphones or speakers. Try playing another video after and test what happens.

If there's no change, the next step would be to try again after resetting the NVRAM on your Mac:

Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac

Testing if videos play in another user account can help further isolate if the issue may be caused by user-related files or settings. If you don't have another user account, here's how to create one for testing:

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Keep us posted on the results.

Cheers!
