Using Preview to convert TIFF to HEIC

The file size increases sharply as you ramp up the quality setting above 80%. But does the higher quality give any practical benefit? What is the best setting?

Before the changed the setting on my phone to shoot in jpg I have a number of HEIC files that are so compressed as to almost being unusable - 72 dpi. HEIC I happen to like the HEIC format for my images, and I am wondering why when I export an HEIC image from Photos it's converted to JPEG. I want to keep it HEIC.

Newly introduced bug in Preview App when converting TIFFs? Lately, if I open a TIFF in Preview and use the "Export as PDF" command, Preview will identify the number of pages in the document, and it will output a PDF that has that number of pages, but every single page in the PDF will be a copy of the first page of the TIFF.

Only you can determine the best HEIC setting for your particular need. Your perception of quality could differ from ours, and thus any setting we might suggest based on our own need, might be unsuitable for you.
