Question about file size in FCPx when it comes to creating long meditation video

I am not opposed to using other software like premiere or davinci resolve but wanted to see if there was a better way to do it in FCPx simply because it has a little animation watermark I use lol.

Right now using h264 codec and trying what is in my version of FCPX 10.4.8 the smallest I get is around 48/50 gb in size. In Davinci Resolve my files are 10.99 gb.

Is there a better way to render a large audio track with a couple of photos that I use for youtube?

Second question. While rendering my files, I find that about 2 and a half hours in the file finishes rendering and is complete and on my x5 external but FCP continues in the back ground eating away space at my hard drive on my MacBook eating up around 265gb in space. Anyway to stop that? I mean the files already done and completed and I have around 230 gb at that point, but if I fall asleep and wake up in the AM FCP said it's stopped because of disk space. Very annoying.

Any help appreciated. :)

First, Go to Preferences and turn off “background render”, then turn off the creation of optimized media and proxy media on import.

Second, select your library in the browser sidebar and do File->Delete Generated Library Files...

check everything.

You are likely to have just regained hundreds of GB of space.

Don’t worry about the size of the export. Whatever you do, youtube will retranscode on their side.

**** that response was fast. Thank you!

I have delete generated files but not background rendering, I don't think.

And the file is 10 hours long on this one. The other 3 hour file was 26gb.

I did look for h265 codec to reduce the size which everyone claims is in the preferences area of FCP. Mine does not have those codecs built in, only MXF codecs.

Thank you. I guess I need to go to another forum to find a more capable editor. Just didn't want to use premiere or resolve because it didn't have some of the add ins I wanted to use. Always surprised to see how far back apple is on doing things esp with FCP now days. Other editors are leaps and bounds what FCP is as far as codec options, speed etc... I guess "Resolve" it is. :)

I appreciate your help
