In the words the warranty is good on a device only in the region that it was purchased in. Yes, such is the case during the current times. I am not sure whether there are any other options such as mail-in repair etc. I am not sure how things work in India. You can dig into more information on how to get your iPhone serviced by clicking on Apple Support at the top right of this page.
