How do I turn off CNN news banner notifications ?

All of a sudden I started getting CNN news banner notifications in the upper right hand corner of my mac air - I went to notifications but CNN is not listed so I have no idea how it started or how to get rid of. It is not listed in applications either. I definitely want this to stop but not sure where to start. Help!

There are two ways to manage Notifications. The first one is in System Preferences > Notifications which it seems like you already investigated and ruled out.

Check the Safari menu > Preferences... > Websites > General > Notifications.
