Can't hide playback controls in Quicktime 10.5

Hello,

In the last few days I have been unable to hide the playback controls for Quicktime 10.5 on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) running Catalina 10.15.4. Restarting the computer doesn't help, and the controls are there whether or not the window is full screen. We usually watch videos on a projector, but its become very annoying with the controls unable to be hidden. First time this has happened since getting the computer new in 2015.

Any help would be appreciated!

Verify that the cursor is not in the vicinity of the on-screen controls. Then it would hide automatically in about 3 seconds.

Thanks for the reply. I've tried that and it doesn't help. The controls are constantly present whether or not the screen is full, reduced, etc. The control panel can still be moved around the screen like normal, but it never disappears even when the cursor is moved away, outside the window, or inside the window.
