There is a badge on Software Update in System Preferences. When I go to update macOS from there it says macOS is up to date. I'm on 10.15.4. Is there a way to clear the badge, but allow it to appear when necessary?

While in the Finder, press "command shift G", paste the above line into the window that opens and press Return. It will highlight the file for deletion.

Delete this file then restart.

I am having the same issue, when I search in finder for that file you listed above it does not find such a file. What am I doing wrong or do you have another suggestion?
