I have now received a new MacBook Air 2020 but the camera quality is the same. The MacBook Air 2020 has just an incredibly bad camera. I think we are left with 3 options:

  1. Get a different computer
  2. Use your iPhone camera which needs to get connected to the MacBook Air with the help of a supporting App
  3. Buy an external webcam

i saw that youtube video on how our iphone can be a webcam with just spending $8.00 but isn't ironic that we already spent $1,000 for macbook air 2020 for a disappointing webcam and here we are spending another for an apps or worse is buying an external webcam....hope apple can fix this problem as I'm not pleased with this....by the way I still have the 2017 version which is much more better view to every communication apps

This is totally unacceptable! I just got off the phone with an Apple tech support rep and he basically told me the camera is doing what its suppose to. What?? I can barely see my myself. I did several tests by calling other devices (iPhone 10x, iPhone 11 Pro, older MacBook Air and older MacBook Pro) and the quality of the MacBook Air 2020 is by far the worse. The most concerning part for me is that the bad quality shows up for the other person, meaning they can barely see me on their end as well! I even tried different apps ( FaceTime, zoom and google hangouts) to make sure it wasn't just zoom.

I asked the rep if this was a known issue and he said "I suggest taking a trip to an apple store to compare the quality on the display models before shipping it back to us". Basically he knows there's an issue with this model and Apple won't do anything about it. People have been complaining about this since March. They've had months to fix the issue and they simple refuse to.

I already feel like I over paid for crappy specs but to now find out the camera is useless for my online classes as well. This is just ridiculous! Shame on you Apple!

We should get a refund especially students. I had a student today with a Mac air like mine . She was all blurred and as I have a blackmagic thunderbolt 3 converter run into 1920 ENG camera the difference was so evident These students are being ripped off and they are online all day

At least every purchaser should have a a multi Thunderbolt 3 side unit and an external camera. The side unit is required because an external camera leaves one Thunderbolt available for the charger when an external hard drive is essential

A Apple Mac that is a dud. How little are US corporate ethics worth?

I bought a Macbook Air 2020 last November. Before buying it I read about the specs and one of the things that convinced me to buy it, was its HD camera because I am a teacher and we all know about the importance of an HD camera during the Covid-19 pandemic. Like many other users, I am completely disappointed with the quality of the camera. My old iPhone 8 has a far better camera than this one. I hope Apple fixes this problem.
