two factor authentication

When I got my new IPad7, I did not turn on two factor authentication, but now my settings icon has a 1 on it and when I touch it, it wants me to turn on 2 factor authentication which I don't want. How do I get rid of it? Also, every so often at the top of my screen it also wants me to turn on 2 factor authentication. How do I stop these annoying reminders?

If you tap on that it should go to another window where you have the option to choose “Not Now”. Tapping on that will dismiss the notification. At some point it will come back and you can keep doing the same thing over and over if you care to do so.

Some Apple services will no longer work if you do not start using 2FA. I am not pushing the use of 2FA, although I do use it, but merely stating a fact.
