Right Air Pod stopped working

I have air pods that have been well taken care of and never dropped. Everything was fine up until a couple weeks ago when the right unit quit working. I have tried numerous times to reset them in the case and repair with no success. They are fully charged and I can only get sound out of the left unit. All balance and volume settings are good and it seems as if this one may have failed. I was hoping that someone may be able to offer me some help. The warranty was most likely over in Dec 2019. I feel this may have happened around the time of an update but I am not sure.
