Mail error message ...

Hi,

Since my recent upgrade to Catalina, once in a while, I get this error message (translated from French):

«Mail cannot save the mailboxes's informations, because your the home folder is insufficient. Please quit Mail, delete the files and relaunch Mail.»

Please help !

Quit mail.

From the Finder>Go>Go to Folder, copy & Paste:

 ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail

Highlight all the contents in this folder. Place your mouse on the selection,

Then Control click (right-click) and choose "New Folder with Selection”. Do not move the new folder from this current location.

You can close the Finder window.

The next step will be to restart the Mac and test

After the computer is restarted, open the Mail.app> Preferences to see if it opens properly.

I appreciate your help ... but not understanding what I am doing, puzzles me. Can the suggested procedure damaged any of my Mail datas ?

no damage— it is simply a trouble shooting procedure to see if we can resolve you issue. All we are doing is get past corruption in the Container.

IMAP mail says on the server no matter what.

You should always have a robust back plan if you value your user data:

3-2-1 Backup Strategy: three copies of your data, two different methods, and one offsite.

Insufficient:

Insufficient, as in your Home Folder is not capable enough (the handle such capacity, technically).

Hi Leroy,

Following your advice and after restarting the computer, a new Container.plist file was created. Mail still displays the same error message.

I also created a fresh user account on my iMac. I linked it to my iCloud account. All my iCloud setup were downloaded and my Mail account recreated. I got the same error message.

Any other suggestion ?

Happy Easter and pleasurable confinement !
