Cannot download Catalina from App store

I have a late 2014 Mac Mini with sufficient memory and space to run Catalina. Currently I am running 10.11.6 El Capitan. I want to upgrade to Catalina. But whenever I try to download it from the app store, it only downloads for a short while and then nothing ever appears in my downloads, or on my desktop, or anything I can do to install Catalina. It seems like nothing is being downloaded at all. Where can I get Catalina? Do I have to upgrade to Mojave first?

I just found something online that says you can just download it here: https://support.apple.com/downloads/macos

I downloaded the combo update for Catalina if you click on Mac OS.

Its currently downloading, so I'll keep you update and give it a try to see if it works.

Also I have turned on my automatic download updates (including OS X updates) and nothing is happening. Where is Catalina?

Never mind, I will just try to upgrade to Sierra which is still available.

Exact same thing happening to me, the download button goes dark and nothing happens.

That's not the full Catalina upgrade installer, it's an update and it won't install. You need to already have Catalina to use it.

Don't download the combo update, just download the normal one

That's what im trying to do, Install Catalina from the Appstore but it won't work, the button just darkens and nothing happens

I was able to upgrade to Mojave and then from there I was to download Catalina. So that might be a work around. Pain in the rear but better than nothing.
