I'm having several problems with my new MacBook Air. Not sure if they're related or independent. This is the third problem I have posted here.
After initializing my new Air with my Time Machine backup, I was informed that it couldn't connect to iCloud. I was asked to enter my Apple ID password, and I got an "unknown error" message.
I tried changing my password. Same problem. I have restarted several times with no luck.

This problem was just one of several. I decided to try a clean install of everything (Catalina plus a from-scratch Time Machine) and all is good now. I don't know what was corrupted, but I'm going to guess that initializing from Time Machine was the problem.
When you set up the Air— you had to enter you AppleID at that time?
You posted here using your Apple ID?
Just because you have an issue—does not mean change your password, this only obscures the issue or compounds it.
If you can't connect or sign in to iCloud - Apple Support
I didn't really expect changing my password to have an effect. I was grasping at straws.
