None of the apps will stay in the bin (trash) How do you delete these?

There are plenty instructions telling you how to delete apps by dragging to the bin or using Launchpad but none of my apps allow these options.

Are all the instruction wrong or are my apps somehow locked to prevent deletion? Even a simple app like chess will not delete.

Unfortunately, we need a lot more information re: your problem. Please read Writing an effective Apple Support Communities question. We are here to help. We are all users. We are not mind-readers nor clairvoyants. We only know what you write down and tell us. Be specific and thorough. Include your hardware information and installed version of macOS. Try to write clearly. Think about what you want to say before you write it down, then re-read it to see if it makes sense.

FYI: These are user-only forums. This is not Apple Support. if you need to contact Apple Support, then contact product and tech support:  Contacting Apple for support and service including international calling numbers.

These forums only provide help with Apple products. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Indeed BDAqua, I've come to realise that most of what Google comes up with is irrelavent to what I'm looking for. I keep using it though in the hope that something useful comes up! Hmmm.

Back to the issue, the first Apple guy I spoke to didn't seem to know a) that the apps would just pop out of the bin if you put them there and b) How there came to be 2 versions of each. He eventually put me onto a senior chap who confirmed I would have to delete the 'Mac HD' (he took me through it) and reload it.

I suspect the issue was caused because I was prompted to migrate from my old machine before my brand new machine had loaded its own software.

Therefore, by the time the latest Mac OS was loaded, there was already the OS, complete with apps, from my old MacBook there.
