Dragging images from safari on MacBook Air

How do you save images from safari to a MacBook Air? I use to always just drag the photo from google images to my desktop but it no longer allows me to drag the photo. It just does not work and I cannot find a way to save the photo. I have tried googling and no one seems to have the problem of it a picture not being able to drag to the desktop
