Apple id sign in requested

Thanks for replying. There isn't a box for entering my password on my iPad. Its a number pad. So there's no way to continue entering the "verification code" provided to my iPhone into my iPad. the only way to stop the repeated texts to my iPhone telling me to enter this verification code to my iPad is to turn off my iPad completely. Maybe there's a way to screen shot the message and show it here.

The iPad works fine. The problem is that even though the iPad is working, i repeatedly, and I mean 20 times in the span of a few minutes, get a message screen on my iPhone that an iPad is trying to use my apple id. i have a choice to select allow, or not allow, when I select allow, it gives me a verification number to be inserted on my iPad after my passcode. i select ok. the message screen disappears for a moment, but then comes back repeatedly. all of this is on my iPhone screen. so even though my iPad is working, my iPhone gets these messages over and over until i turn the iPad off. I am not able to enter the verification number provided to my iPhone on my iPad because the number pad disappears after i enter the passcode. it sounds like this hasn't happened to anyone else before?
