Mac says I have WiFi connection but safari won’t connect. Ran diagnosis but cannot reach isp to discuss dns. Also cited country conflict but all devises say ‘us’. This just happened in last couple of days. Previously has worked with this isp for 3 months.

Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?

Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

Safe Mode - About.

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin.

Eric,

You are a genius in my book. I disabled both VPN and anti virus and now I have internet access. Is it safe to reinstall them. I’ve had the VPN for years and this anti virus for more than a year before this happened?

i can’t thank you enough. Anything I can do to post my appreciation? Thank you thank you thank you, I feel like I just got my ‘stay at home/shelter in place’ life back,

My apologies for not seeing your response and answering sooner. I spent over an hour with Apple care. Did SMC reset; MV RAM(?) reset; safe mode; and reinstall operating system over existing files.

nothing resolved. I do have VPN and anti virus program. Tried using different user acct. no luck

was advised to do a wipe & reinstall (without online access that isn’t doable for me) and then send for a hardware repair.

any comments or ideas? Thanks.

Have you tried disabling/uninstalling the VPN and anti-virus programs?

What does Wireless Diagnostics show?

WiFi Potential Temporary fix - Yosemite

Also try turning off Bluetooth.

If your Wi-Fi source is capable of generating a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, try that to help avoid conflicts with Bluetooth.
