iPhone XS Max stuck in recovery mode

Hi I have an iPhone XS Max. A day ago I receive a message that the iPhone's storage was almost full. Just thereafter I received another message stating that I must switch of the phone and on again to make calls. Which I did. Whereafter the phone refused to go past the white apple logo. I was advised to reinstall the software which I did, receiving a message that the phone cannot be updated on my Macbook Pro (Catalina Software) and that the software must be restore, which I accepted. Half way through the installation process, I received a message that the software cannot be installed. Now the phone is stuck with the image of a computer and the power cable with the heading support.apple.com/iphone/restore.

On my Mac it says that Software: Loading for hours now. Can you please assist me. I really need to use my phone. It is really extremely urgent. Kind Regards.

So here’s another trick to try. I haven’t really heard of this loading software issue, but this might help.

instead of recovery mode, enter DFU mode:

Step 1: Connect your iPhone to your Mac (or PC with iTunes installed) using a Lightning to USB cable.

Step 2: Press and release the Volume Up button.

Step 3: Press and release the Volume Down button.

Step 4: Press and hold the Side button for 10 seconds until the iPhone’s screen turns black

Step 5: While continuing to hold the Side button, press and hold the Volume Down button for 5 seconds, and then release the Side button while continuing to hold the Volume Down button for an additional 10 seconds. The screen should remain black if performed correctly.

Step 6: Open iTunes, and you should see a message stating that “iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.”

then see if it works this time instead of being stuck.

Dear Orangegrouptech, thank you very much for your swift reply I restarted my Macbook Pro, Catalina 10.15.4 has been installed. I did a reset of the iPhone, volume button up; volume button down, then holding the power switch of the phone, the phone restarted, I plugged it into the Macbook Pro, and after the apple logo, it went straight to the screen showing a computer with the cable and on top of the screen: support.apple.com/iphone/restore. It also showed up in the Macbook Pro's finder with the following message, Software Loading ... . As per the attached screenshot. I would really really appreciate if you can assist me. I am a South African, we are currently lock-down until the end of April. I am self employed and I need my phone to do business. Kind regards.

Make sure your Mac is updated to its latest version: macOS Catalina 10.15.4 supplemental update.

if it is, try unplugging the iPhone and rebooting the Mac.

then after a reboot plug your iPhone in and attempt the restore process again. Do it in a place with a stable connection preferably (if it’s not use an ethernet cable) and use a working iPhone official charger. Leave it plugged in and once you start the Restore process do not touch your iPhone or your Mac or disconnect the device. If it doesn’t work please report back to us as I have another solution if this doesn’t work.

Dear Orangegrouptech, thanks for your response, after your last response, I plug the phone in which was switch off at that juncture (I did it on your instructions and I think this was the important step for the reinstallation of the IOS software).

The phone started up and the next moment Macbook's Finder opened and asked whether I would like to do a restore, which I confirmed. It started then to update the phone and the progress bar on the phone moved on from time to time.

My phone is restored, after many prayers to our Wonderful Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and after your swift assistance.

Thank you very much for your assistance and I wish you only the best, hopefully I can assist you in the future.

Kind Regards.

Tinus
