iCloud drive hidden files

I had 200 gb of iCloud storage and started getting messages that the storage is exceeded. I checked settings - 71Gb is occupied by documents (with advice to delete some documents iCloud Drive in Finder). I've deleted all documents on computer. I've checked web version - the folder s empty, and I deleted all recently deleted files there. It did not help. No documents on my disk, no documents in the web version but still 71 gb in iCloud Drive. I ticked off iCloud Drive box in the settings, so my documents and desktop folders should not be in iCloud Drive now. Still the same problem - these folders are empty on computer and there are no documents in the web version but the non-existing documents somehow occupy 71 gb in iCloud Drive.

I've shown my screenshots and have already written that Documents and Desktop folders were empty on computer, iCloud Drive box was already unticked, and there were no documents on iCloud server. So this solution would not apply to my case.

As I've said technical support already solved the problem by recalculating the space occupied on iCloud server on their side.

Thanks everyone

If you open system preferences > iCloud and uncheck the box of iCloud Drive a pop up window appears , showing to keep a copy of documents , and remove from the Mac .

( a ) if you had clicked on keep a copy , they will be archived in home folder that can be viewed by clicking on finder in the dock , take cursor on top menu bar > Go > Home > your user name > iCloud Drive ( Archive ) .

If you again double click on empty iCloud Drive box it will show setting up small circle will rotate and iCloud Drive box will get checked ,also the desktop and documents were previously checked , the files / documents will start syncing from iCloud server .

Second method is select items and copy and paste that were saved in iCloud drive ( Archive ) over the documents folder in finder https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201236
