Java developer kit error message

Fromm the Terminal.app you can copy and paste:

sudo softwareupdate --ignore JavaForOSX

(note: your psswd will not echo, type it in anyway, to proceed use the enter/return key)

If you are unsure of the exact name you can glean it from , copy and paste:

softwareupdate --list

quit terminal you are done here.

Thank you for your quick reply and instructions. I did as you instructed above and commands were performed without error messages, so I assume they worked. I restarted the machine and I still get the same JDK error message. I assume your instructions removed JavaForOSX updates to be done in the future, but there is still something left from Java in my system, because I still get this error message.

What should I try next?

from your Finder >Go>Go To Folder copy and paste:

 ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.preferences.softwareupdate.plist 

delete this plist and reboot
