Can't send E-mail

I'm connected to the web using Apple Mail. I can get mail on my desktop, but not send it.

All works well on my laptop and phone.

The message I get says: Connections to host p36-smtp.mail.me.com on the default ports failed.

Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.

It says my iCloud is offline... If I check accounts I'm told I'm connected to iCloud. If I check the Mailbox menu choices, I'm told I'm online.

I have made no changes (that I know of). I've looked at all settings on my laptop and they seem the same as my desktop, but my outgoing mail isn't working.

Any ideas?? 🙏🏼

Paul

In your screen shot click on edit SMTP server list .

You can search the mail settings https://support.apple.com/mail-settings-lookup

Try to add the settings manually , if there is any error delete the account and once again set up , the settings will start from beginning https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mail/mail35803/mac

In system preferences > internet accounts are you trying to click on plus sign and adding the account ending with Mac.com , in Mac OS catalina 10.15.4 these are are outdated and only Apple ID say eample1@icloud.com works fine .

The safari can't open page , either safari is corrupted due to unwanted apps / softwares installed use etrecheck https://etrecheck.com

And post the results see this also https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/safari/sfri11861/12.0/mac/10.14

ErI, I tried filling the links you shared (to no avail). I had my laptop, which is set up to exactly like my desktop and could see no difference.

I'm using iCloud as my server and can get incoming messages, but outgoing has changed.

My connection on the desktop worked to the IMAP server before I got rid of the SMTP Keychain entries for the outgoing server (as suggested in the Mac issues article you suggested.)

I could find no info for rebuilding the information needed in the article. I thought iCloud automatically did all this.

My laptop shows IMAP connected in the Mail Connection Doctor, but just a spinning in the SMTP account.

Sorry, but I'm stuck.

I never got back to this screen. When I tried to reply I got the following message...

Earlier, It tried to send images via messenger and was not able.

I was looking for a new app and couldn't log into the iCloud. I was asked for my Apple ID and password which works on all my devices. I got this message...

I finally tried to say I forgot my password (even though it works on every other one of my devices). I figured I'd have to change them all again. I got this message...

I'd click on forget password and it would link me back to the former message. A loop to nowhere.

I'm guessing all are related. In system preferences, It shows I'm checked in for iCloud. 🤷🏼‍♂️ ???

I now can't sign back in on Safari on my desktop to continue trying to problem solve. I'm using my laptop.

First of all, I'm not running Catalina (but Mojave 10.14.6). I have Photoshop 6.5 that I can't live without and can't afford to loose it with an upgrade to Catalina :-(

Second this wasn't a Safari based problem until I couldn't connect to this discussion because my Apple password isn't recognized through iCloud.

My photos, mail, text messages are not going out (or in) to share with other devices in my iCloud account.

My Apple password is not recognized on this machine and there seems no way to change it (I get put in the loop shown in the screen shots above).

Third, I tried logging in using my name @ icloud.com (I don't on any other device) and got the same result that I couldn't connect.

Fourth, I downloaded etrecheck and printed out a report. Is it safe to post it here? Are you sure that's what is needed? Somehow that doesn't seem too safe.

Thanks for sticking with this.

Paul
