I need help on how to go about this!
I have a MacBook Air 2013 model but I have not used it since 2016 so it’s very behind on updates. When I try to update the software it pops up with “an error has occurred while downloading the updates (102)”.
How do I fix this so I can update my MacBook Air properly and start using it again?

but your Mac may need upgrade to next newer system before going higher.

There are two/three newer system download installers after this, your mac may use.
(And third-party browser support from Firefox, etc looks for newer than Mavericks.)

After that you can go higher.
edit: Please give more information on what OS is installed on your Mac.
It currently has version 10.8.5 installed
I’m having the same issue. My MacBook Air was purchased in 2018, currently running macOS Mojave. 10.14.6.... attempted to “upgrade now” to macOS Catalina... several times with no success.
