Apple Intelligence is now available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac!
I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max running iOS 13.4.1. When Settings/Sounds & Haptics/Ringer and alerts/Change with buttons is turned ON, no notification sound is given for new incoming messages. When the Change with buttons is is turned OFF, the notification works OK. Seems like a minor bug, but annoying until I figured out how to fix it.
Make sure the Ringer volume is turned up. I have that setting on for my iPhone 11 Pro, and I receive alerts. When you have it turned on, that allows you to change the Ringer and alert sounds with the volume up & down buttons on the side of the iPhone. Double-check to ensure the Mute switch is off, than means towards the screen, no color showing, and press the volume up button and make sure you see Ringer on the unlocked screen when you do that. If you have already done that, then power cycle the iPhone off and back on again and make sure you have a sound selected for Notifications.
