mail in repair

i mailed in my brand new iphone , which arrived broken. i received an email from UPS saying they successfully delivered my device to the repair center at 9:55 am this morning. it’s 8:20pm, no update from apple and my repair status page says they still haven’t received it. i called apple at 12 to see if it was correct and she told me it hadn’t been scanned in yet, but now it’s been 8 hours. what can i expect from this mail in repair? what is the average time? i’m becoming increasingly disappointed in frustrated with apple, especially since i received a broken phone.

These are some tough times that all of us are living through including Apple (Covid-19 related). There may be delays related to this. Furthermore, the members of this forum are neither Apple representatives nor Apple employees. We are members just like you. I, therefore, recommend that you continue to pursue communications directly with Apple, like you have been, until you get an answer that satisfies your question.

I just recently mailed in my iPhone X for repair and there was a delay between what happened in real time and what they say the progress is in emails. Just give it 24-48 hours and if there still isn't any progress call Apple Support.
