CAN´T USE MY Cinema Display CAMERA

HI, IM HAVING VIDEOCONFERENCES ON MY MacBook Pro WITH 10.15.3

I USE A Cinema Display BUT I CANT FIND HOW TO USE THE CAMERA ON IT, I HACE TO LOOK AT THE MACBOOK CAMERA.

I SEARCHED AND FIND OLD ANSWERS THAT ARE NO LONGER HELPFUL OR MAY BE IM DOING SOMETHING WRONG.

I TRYED TO OPEN FACETIME, ZOOM, AND ONLY APPEARS MY INSIGHT CAMERA FROM THE MACBOOK, NOT THE Cinema Display.

ANYONE CAN HELP ME?

Sometimes with second external display attached to portable mac, you may be able to close display

and only then have visible other features engage. ~ What happens when you close display-lid?

Could be your portable is too new for this feature to function with older Apple display.

• Use external monitors with your Mac - Apple Support

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202351

"If you use an external display with your Mac notebook, you

can also use closed-display mode. Check your requirements"

Whether or not the external display's built-in iSight would then be used as default, I do not know.

While I have an Apple 20-inch aluminum display; separate iSight camera I have, is original vintage.

(Apple 20-in is used with Late 2012 Mac mini i7 2.3GHz; not my portable macs.)

PS: If there may be means via another display adapter perhaps that

should be researched. A good brand from viable source, with good

return policy. If there's no functions at all, you're not stuck with it.

And you'd also need to use external keyboard if you've not already

to allow access to mac, with lid closed. Bluetooth or USB.

You would need to detail the MacBook/Pro build model version

and more specific information about the vintage cinema display.

For best guess (if there's a path forward in this instance) and look

into which older-type display adapters to find, and try to use.

Where there's more than one cable to old display, adapters would

need to be researched to see what may still be available, to use

with your newer MacBook/Pro. Each newer build series MB/Pro

also has changes too; ports require correct adapters.

With more specific information, Sales Order Number or build year

etc; then one could research. Or look for some newer display with

provable adaptability, then you'd have better chance of success.

Only a few newer adapters only look similar to your options. With

model of your Cinema display known, you could learn what works.

Match two sides of different year technologies: need part numbers.

Everymac.com site, Mactracker.ca application, & online used resale

sites of older Apple display accessories, are sources to check. Or seek

better options to use with a newer MacBook/Pro; get newer display.

Information is lacking to locate what might work to connect products.

Those Apple products have sales order numbers; for you, to research.

Thank you! When I close-display.mode, all desktop was still shown at the Cinema D. but camera was not recognized and useful.

Your link actually help me get it solved.

So: First I Connected a magic trackpad to my MacBook and then close it, (also check if Cinema D. USB cable was connected to MacBook)

and when I open an app like zoom or Photo Booth, it gave me the option to use Cinema Display Isight camera/microphone (Claps!)

Finally the way to use the Cinema Display camera with this MacBook 2014 is having MacBook closed and keyboard and/or at least external mouse to control.

Thanks again ;)
