iPad 3 Air not charging when switched off (passively)

Now I’m spending a lot of time at home the new iPad is being used a lot. I’ve now noticed that, when it needs charging, say before I call it a day, I power it down and leave it charging overnight then turn it on the next morning, it hasn’t charged any further than when it started. (It charges correctly when switched on).

My previous iPad Pro never had this issue and I assumed all (newer) iPads would charge the same.

Yes, an alternative older cable has been tried and this charger is the one always used.

I’ve found a few with the same issue on here but nothing about it being resolved.

Any ideas?

This is a known issue/change with the iPad Air 3.

It is best to leave the iPad always ON an let the iPad sleep/display sleep and charge the iPad while still powered on.

I have been using iPads for 10 years and have never powered them down to charge them overnight.

I have found if I turn OFF both WiFi and Bluetooth, that my iPads all charge up much faster.

I save about 45 mins, or so, by charging my iPads/iPad Pro with both WiFi and Bluetooth toggled off until I am ready to actually use my iPads during the day.
