confusing apple id/iTunes Store password box

Hello,

I'm helping my father in law set up his new iPad remotely...We get to this screen that asked for an Apple ID and password but only gives pace for a password. When we enter his Apple ID password it says it is invalid.


Here is a screenshot he sent me. The languaging in the prompt is confusing, right?
