confusing apple id/iTunes Store password box

Hello,

I'm helping my father in law set up his new iPad remotely...We get to this screen that asked for an Apple ID and password but only gives pace for a password. When we enter his Apple ID password it says it is invalid.

Here is a screenshot he sent me. The languaging in the prompt is confusing, right?

the phone number associated with an apple id is incorrect My son is trying to set up a new phone, but he forgot his passord. Unfortunately some time during the last couple years he changed his phone number and did not update his icloud info. Now when we try and recover his password to his icloud account so he can sign into the new phone it asks for a phone number associated with his account. when we type in the phone number that he is using it says it is not the phone number associated with this account. thanks, Chris

I would definitely double-check that he is typing in the password correctly. (I recently helped a family member setup their new device as well!)

He could try verifying that his password is correct by logging into iCloud.com successfully.
